Coping with our imperfections can be a tall task. We are prone to shame and self criticism in our moments of struggle. As if the mistake we made was not enough, we can spiral into beating ourselves up for it. This self condemnation is nearly impossible to bear. The pain of being permanently stuck in “I’m not good enough” is a crushing weight. Finding a way to access love, mercy, and compassion pulls us out of these depths and allow us to face our vulnerability. We are not made to bear these moments alone. We are made to reach for another and borrow their loving eyes to remind us of our value and worth. This experience of love, in the places we feel the weakest and most ashamed of, creates the foundation for growth.

Turning to God and our loved ones when we have stumbled provides us with a safety net. As we are caught and held by those who love us, we can recovery our identity and stumble a bit better. Trusting and receiving the gift of love supports our effort to embody who we want to become.

How would it be to undo your aloneness and allow God to love you where you feel the worst about yourself? Could you let Him pull you out of that hole? Does that seems impossible or scary? Whatever the answer, could you imagine sharing that with Him?
