We don’t get over things, we integrate them into our story. Much of the healing process is centered around this task; creating new experiences and ways of interacting with the past and present. This process can lead us to outcomes we didn’t know were possible. Our story may be the same but our experience has changed. We no longer have the same symptoms, feel the same way, or act the same as before. If we can transform the process of how we respond and relate to our suffering, we will internalize a permanent antidote to our struggles. We become different and that’s the answer to our problem. Healing is possible, it just may look different than we expect. ⁣
