Research shows that prayer and being part of a faith community are beneficial for our mental health. At the same time, it can be hard to feel comforted and supported when you’re suffering. While prayer can’t replace proper treatment, it may be helpful to focus on prayers that are aimed at providing consolation. These prayers can speak to our suffering hearts, making space for our lived reality and need for help. The goal is to meet our spiritual needs while we strive to meet our psychological, physiological, and emotional needs through other means like therapy. ⁣
