Michael Wagner, PsyD Clinician- Alexandria
Michael Wagner, Psy.D. is licensed to practice clinical psychology in the Commonwealth of Virginia and in the State of Maryland. He received his doctorate in clinical psychology from the Institute for the Psychological Sciences, where his research and doctoral dissertation focused on understanding identity formation within today’s culture. Additionally, pre-graduation, he received advanced training in the provision of comprehensive psychological assessments from Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, DC. Michael has subsequently chosen to specialize in the provision of systemic care including couples therapy, family sessions, group therapy, and consultation services.
Michael recognizes that persons who are suffering often feel most alone precisely when interpersonal support is most necessary. It is his desire to accompany others through periods of significant suffering with the hope that regeneration is possible. Consolation has been beautifully defined as, “being with the other in his solitude, so that it ceases to be solitude.” It is Michael’s goal to provide support and guidance, so that one is not alone as they face relational upheaval, depression, anxiety, or fear. Hopefully this, “being with,” will bring consolation, and eventually lead a person toward peace and personal growth.
