Joe Nelson, M.Psy., M.S., is a Doctoral Extern in Clinical Psychology at Divine Mercy University in Sterling, VA. He holds a Master of Psychology degree from Divine Mercy University, as well as a Master of Science in Counselor Education from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
Deeply committed to the integration of Catholic anthropology and sound psychological science, Joe approaches each client as a unique and unrepeatable person, created in the image of God. Joe sees therapy as a collaborative process, where client and therapist partner together to clarify goals and work toward meaningful growth. By fostering a relationship grounded in trust and mutual respect, he helps clients engage more fully in their healing journey. Through his past experience as both a diocesan seminarian and a college campus minister, Joe brings a pastoral heart and understanding of the spiritual life to his clinical work, accompanying clients with sensitivity to both psychological and spiritual dimensions of the person.
